About Soundspectre

Soundspectre started where most of my ideas begin: on set.

I’m Kristian Knoop, a production sound mixer and boom operator based in The Hague, the Netherlands. Since graduating from the Netherlands Film Academy in 2018, I’ve worked on feature films, documentaries, television series and commercials, collaborating with crews that expect reliable equipment every single day.

Working on professional productions has taught me one important lesson: the smallest tools often make the biggest difference.

Every production presents new challenges. Equipment has to be faster, lighter, stronger and easier to use. During long shooting days I constantly find myself asking the same question:

“There has to be a better way.”

That mindset eventually became Soundspectre.

Long before I started designing products, I was fascinated by understanding how things worked. As a kid I would take apart old radios and amplifiers simply to discover what was inside. Later that curiosity evolved into sound, engineering and eventually 3D design.

When I bought my first 3D printer, I wasn’t interested in printing decorative objects. I wanted to solve real problems that I encountered every week on set.

The first product was the DOME boom holder. It wasn’t designed to become a business. It was designed because I genuinely needed a better solution. Other sound professionals started asking where they could get one, followed by requests for more products. Before long, Soundspectre grew into a collection of purpose-built tools created by someone who actually uses them in the field.

Every product starts the same way.

I notice something that slows me down, makes my work less efficient or could simply be designed better. Then I start sketching, prototyping and testing. Most ideas go through multiple versions before they ever reach the store. If it doesn’t improve my own workflow on professional productions, it doesn’t become a Soundspectre product.

I don’t believe in designing products just because they look interesting.

I believe in tools that quietly do their job, survive years of professional use and become part of your everyday workflow.

Today, Soundspectre is dedicated to creating practical, durable and thoughtfully engineered tools for production sound professionals around the world. Everything is designed with the same philosophy:

Designed by someone who depends on the gear every day.

Whether you’re a production sound mixer, boom operator or simply someone who appreciates smart, well-designed equipment, I hope these products make your work just a little easier, just as they have made mine.

Welcome to Soundspectre.
